The rope spear is a fishing tool used when it is found that an instrument inserted with wire can not be extracted from the well. In such cases the rope spear is used after wire cutting operation in order to recover from well the rest of the wire and the caught instrument. The rope spear is made of a solid steel body fitted at the top with a connecting pin which is fixed the fishing drill string. Inside the rope spear, along the body, there are several fishing spears directed with top up. The rope spears are placed so that in the openings between their top and rope spear body can enter the wire after which it is instrumented. |
